Here is how we handle aspect ratio mismatches:
1. Horizontal (Landscape) vs. Vertical (Portrait)
If you ordered a standard vertical canvas (e.g., 12x16") but uploaded a horizontal photo (like a wide family portrait or a landscape), there is no need to panic or cancel your order.
- The Fix: We will simply print the design horizontally on the canvas to match your photo! You will just paint and hang the final canvas sideways.
2. Square Photos on Rectangular Canvases
If you upload a perfectly square photo (like an Instagram picture) but order a rectangular canvas, the photo will not naturally fit.
- Our Promise: We will NEVER stretch or squash your photo to make it fit. Stretching causes faces and bodies to look distorted and unnatural.
- The Fix: Instead of stretching, our designers will gently crop the edges of the photo (usually the sky, floor, or empty background) so it fits perfectly onto the rectangular canvas. We always make sure the main subjects (people, faces, and pets) remain fully visible and beautifully centered.
3. What if cropping cuts off someone's head?
If your square photo is zoomed in very tightly on someone's face, and cropping it would cut off a vital part of the image (like ears or the top of a head), we will not blindly process the order.
In this rare case, we will place your order "On Hold" and our support team will email you to ask for a different photo, or ask for your permission to proceed with the crop.
