Turning your favorite memory into a Paint by Numbers masterpiece is an incredible experience! However, the secret to a stunning final painting is simple: The better your original photo, the better your painting will look.
Our design software translates the pixels of your photo into paint-by-number areas. It cannot "guess" or create details that are not visible in the original image.
To ensure your custom kit turns out beautifully, please follow these 4 Golden Rules when choosing your photo:
1. ☀️ Good Lighting is Everything
- Do: Choose a photo taken in natural daylight where the colors are bright and authentic.
- Don't: Avoid photos with heavy shadows across faces, dark night-time shots, or pictures with intense color filters (like yellow or blue tints). Note: Heavy shadows on a face will often turn into dark brown, grey, or even green paint blocks on the canvas!
2. 🔍 High Resolution (No Blur!)
- Do: Upload the original, unedited photo directly from your phone or camera camera roll.
- Don't: Please do not use screenshots, photos downloaded from Facebook/Instagram (they compress the quality), or heavily zoomed-in photos. If the photo looks blurry or pixelated when you zoom in on your phone, it will look blurry as a painting.
3. 📸 Close-Ups Work Best
- Do: Choose photos where the main subject (a person, a pet, or a house) takes up the majority of the frame. The larger the face is in the photo, the more detail we can capture!
- Don't: Avoid photos where the subject is standing very far away with a massive, busy background. If your pet's face is tiny in the original photo, it will just be a small, featureless blob on the canvas.
4. 👨👩👧 Mind the Headcount (Subject Limit)
Our standard 12×16″ (30×40cm) canvas is perfect for 1 subject.
- For 2–3 subjects, choose 16×20″ (40×50cm).
- For 4–6 people, upgrade to 20×24″ (50×60cm) or larger, and select the 48-color option so every face stays sharp."
